Virgin Gorda
The third-largest of the British Virgin Islands. Necker and Moskito sit to the north, Eustatia and the Dogs offshore, the southern chain stretching toward Anegada. The trade winds come from the east through most of the year. Paradise One sits on the western side of the island, facing the channel and the sunset.

The pace of the place gets into you in the first afternoon. By the third day we had stopped checking phones. By the seventh we did not want to leave.
Sonny met us at the ferry with cold towels. He remembered our coffee. He remembered our daughter's name. We had only been once before.
We came for the snorkeling and stayed for the quiet. The garden grows mangoes. The sunset is the kind people write about.
A few things people ask.
- How do we get there?
- Fly to St. Thomas (STT) or Tortola (EIS). From St. Thomas, a ferry to Virgin Gorda runs several times a day. From Tortola, the crossing is shorter. Sonny meets every guest at the ferry — let us know your itinerary and he will be there.
- Are the villas bookable separately?
- Yes. Sundowner, 1 Paradise Lane, and Sunset Watch are each their own villa. 1 Paradise Lane and Sunset Watch can also be booked together as Heaven on Earth. The full property — all three villas — books as Paradise One. The booking selector handles the configurations.
- What about provisioning?
- We provision before you arrive, based on a list you send us two weeks ahead. Coffee, wine, the cupboards stocked to your preference, the fridge full when you walk in. If you would rather shop yourself, the markets in Spanish Town are good.
- What is there to do?
- Snorkeling at the Dogs and at the Baths. The hike up Gorda Peak. A boat charter for the day if you want to see the chain. Or the patio and a book. The right answer changes with the season and the weather; Sonny will tell you what is best the week you are here.
